Trinity’s defense wasn’t nearly as sharp as it’s been the last three weeks, but its offense picked up the slack Friday night as the Crusaders celebrated homecoming, and rolled to a 50-35 win over Windsor.

Carrying the load once again was Wade Register, who had a hand in five touchdowns on another huge night, with a career-best 212 yards rushing on 19 carries, plus 59 receiving and a team-high 10 tackles on defense.

With its streak now at four-straight, Trinity (4-1 overall) will travel to Louisville Friday for a matchup against Thomas Jefferson.

Trinity wasted no time answering, going 57 yards in 10 plays.Register scored from six yards out and ran in the two point conversion to tie the score at 8-8.

The Knights would need just four plays to go 80 yards and regain the lead on their next possession. Sims connected with Santiago Medina for a 70-yard TD to make it 14-8.

The shootout continued, with the Crusaders marching 72 yards in just three plays to regain the lead. Register took a handoff and rumbled 48 yards to paydirt to make it 15-14 late in the first quarter.

Following a Windsor punt, Trinity added to its lead as Jakob Sahli found Register on a third-down screen pass, and the senior back did the rest by reaching the end zone from 25 yards to make the score 22-14.

Another Knights punt set up yet another scoring run by Register, this time from 16 yards, to give the Crusaders a 29-14 advantage with less than five minutes remaining in the half.

Windsor put together a solid drive, but Trinity got a huge fourth-down sack to take over near midfield with just under a minute left until halftime.

After solid runs by Sahli and Register to open the drive, the two hooked up on another pass play.  Register continued  his huge night with a fifth first-half TD on the 34 yard catch-and-run to make it 36-14.

Following homecoming festivities, Trinity took the second-half kickoff looking to add to its lead even more. Unfortunately, the Crusaders would turn the ball over on the second play of the drive and set the Knights up with good field position.

Sims found Medina again for a touchdown from 27 yards out, and the two-point conversion made it 36-22.

Trinity went right back to work by marching 80 yards on nine plays on its next drive. This time, Sahli scored from a yard make it 43-22.

Following a Knight punt, the Crusaders put the game out of reach with another 9-play drive that went 70 yards. Sahli found Tripp Mascaro for a 11-yard touchdown pass to make it 50-22.

Windsor got a pair of touchdowns late as it put together a long drive of its own, going 80 yards on 13 plays to make it 50-28.

The Knights would then convert another Trinity fumble into one final score with just over a minute left to make it 50-35, but the game had been long out of reach.

Sahli was 6-of-8 passing for 114 yards and added 100 rushing yards on 15 attempts. Mascaro had three catches for 51 yards.
