NEWS TIPS
Got an interesting story, upcoming event, major milestone or significant local happening we should know about? Reach out by calling the newsroom at (478) 272-5522, or email a particular editor or reporter by browsing our news staff directory. See below for department contacts, and instructions for specific submitted items.
COMMUNITY NEWS
No matter how large or small, The Courier Herald is interested in local and community news, or readers’ awards and achievements. You can let us know what’s going on by sending us a press release with the subject, time, date and location of the event or recognition. Don’t worry, a press release does not have to be professionally written. Just the basic facts are fine. It should be typed and emailed to tchnewsreporter@gmail.com, and include a contact name, phone number and email address in case we have a question. Please identify, in the subject line, the specific person, department or section for which your news is intended.
POLITICAL COVERAGE
Local political candidates intending to announce a run for election or re-election should contact Senior Reporter Payton Towns III, by phone at (478) 272-5522, ext. 401 or email at tchnewsreporter@gmail.com, to set up an interview BEFORE qualifying for his or her race.
After fields are set, election preview coverage is limited to a questionnaire that candidates in contested races will receive to complete and return for publication before early voting begins.
RELIGION DIGEST
This section, appearing each Saturday, contains information on upcoming special services and events at local churches. Please email submissions to Payton Towns III at tchnewsreporter@gmail.com.
LOCAL SPORTS
The Courier Herald’s sports coverage is focused primarily on athletics at Laurens County’s four high schools, through we frequently delve into other noteworthy topics related to local youth leagues, tournaments/events, health/fitness trends, motorsports and the outdoors. Stories tied to college and professional sports are generally limited to subjects or figures with connections to our readership area.
Submissions of game information and story tips are welcome. Contact sports editor Clay Reynolds at (478) 272-5522, ext. 403, or email tchsports77@gmail.com.
WEDDING ANNOUNCEMENTS
Wedding announcements are published periodically at no charge, and may be submitted by email to tchnewsreporter@gmail.com or in-person.
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
We invite readers to express their thoughts on current issues and local news topics. Email submission is preferred, but letters will also be accepted by mail. Content may be edited for length, clarity, spelling and grammar.
Letters must be signed and contain the address and telephone number of the writer (these are not published but are used for verification). To have your letter considered for publication, email to tchnewsreporter@gmail.com (please include Letter to the Editor in the subject field), mail to 115 South Jefferson Street, Dublin GA 31021 or submit online, by clicking here.
OBITUARIES
Death notices and obituaries are published in each edition, and should – with limited exceptions – be submitted by the funeral service provider handling arrangements or through Memoriams. In unique circumstances, obituaries may be placed by an individual or family, but must be prepaid.
Rates: The first 100 words of a notice are published free, followed by a charge of 25 cents per each additional word. A photo may be included for $5 more.
Obit submissions are accepted by email ONLY at tchobits77@gmail.com. Deadlines for each edition (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday) are 10 a.m. the previous day, and may differ on holidays or in other circumstances warranting a change to our publication schedule.
With questions, call Kyle Dominy at (478) 272-5522, ext. 402.

The Courier Herald aims to correct errors of fact that appear in our publication. Corrections will be noted online at the top of any stories that have been updated to reflect new, incorrect or missing information. In our print edition, correction notices will be published on or near the page where the erroneous item originally appeared.

STORY REPRINTS
Call (478) 272-5522, ext. 102 or drop by our front desk to pick up any recent edition you may have missed. We typically keep a month’s worth of back issues on hand, and often retain a few extra copies of each paper for at least a year after publication.
Visiting the Laurens County Library, which keeps archives of the newspaper on microfilm, is the quickest and least expensive way to conduct research and locate content in our publication from more than a year in the past.
The Courier Herald’s archives, dating back to January 1944, are stored in bound volumes located in a fireproof vault in our building, and are not open to the public. We will consider, but cannot guarantee reader requests for copies of past stories or photos. We are unable to assist with genealogical research.
ADVERTISING
To reach our advertising department, call Connie Adams at (478) 272-5522, ext. 103, or click here.
