The Trinity Crusaders continued their stellar play Friday, going on the road to Thomas Jefferson Academy for a 28-8 win that runs their current win streak to five, the program’s longest since 2012.

Their defense was good all night, but especially stingy in the second half as they held Thomas Jefferson to just 11 yards on four drives, resulting in three punts and a turnover on downs.

Trinity, led by another huge night from Wade Register, outgained the home team 337-145 on the night, rushing for 266 while holding the Jaguars to negative 12 yards on the ground.

The Crusaders (5-1 overall) will be back in action Friday when they travel to Macon to face Central Fellowship.

Trinity took the opening kickoff and picked up a few first downs. The drive stalled, but Register blasted a 43-yard field for an early 3-0 lead.

After the defense forced a three-and-out, the offense got the ball back and went right to work on a long drive that took up the rest of the first quarter.

On the first play of the second, Register scored on a 10-yard run to cap the 9-play, 72-yard drive and put Trinity up 10-0.

The Jaguars would get on the board on their next possession. Following a false start penalty, Treb Walden connected with Asa Price on an 85-yard touchdown pass, and the two point conversion made it 10-8.

The Crusaders punted on their next two possessions, but Thomas Jefferson fumbled and punted on their next two as well.

Trinity was able to score another touchdown on its next drive, as Jakob Sahli reached the end zone on a keeper from six yards out to put the Crusaders up 17-8.

The Jaguars had a promising drive going just before the half but Trinity was able to stop it with a fumble late in the half.

Sahli led the offense on an excellent two-minute drill, and Register connected on a 23-yard field goal as the half expired to make the score 20-8.

Trinity added one more touchdown on its first drive of the second half. Register would score from three yards out and the two-point try made it 28-8.

Register rushed for 173 yards on 22 carries and added a 23-yard reception. Sahli was 4-of-8 passing for 71 yards and rushed for 76 on 17 attempts.

Tripp Mascaro led the defense with nine tackles, and Register added eight.

Walden went 13-of-21 for 157 yards for the Jags.
