A local store held an early Christmas celebration for the Dublin Police Department and city employees.

Family Dollar, 304 N. Jefferson St., hosted Coffee with a Cop, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 17. Officers were able to drink coffee and eat a meal provided by the store. Lorenzo Pullen, Family Dollar store manager, brought in chicken wings and provided other food items like shrimp, eggs, sausage and pastries.

“We do this in some of our markets to help build relationships with the police department, the city and the community,” said Archie Cook, regional asset protection manager with Family Dollar from Savannah. “This way our team members can interact with the police and get them in the store and show that we appreciate what they do.”

The breakfast spread the store provided was the best one Cook has seen.

“Lorenzo out did himself,” Cook said. “We do this also to show our team members that we appreciate them.”

Edwin Adside, marketing investigator with Family Dollar from Milledgeville, liked what he saw.

“This is a great event,” Adside said. “It bridges the cap between the community and the police. Sometimes there is a disconnect and we wanted to try to bring them together.”
