Man on electric bike in critical condition after hit by truck near East Laurens schools
A 56-year-old man was in critical condition after being hit by a truck while on his electric bicycle Thursday night.
A man was in critical condition Friday morning after he was hit by a truck while riding an electric bicycle near East Dublin the night before.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, Dennis Paul, 56, was riding a blue Urlife E-bicycle on U.S.80 near Ernest Stinson Road when a Dodge Ram, driven by Charles David Coursey, 49, approached him from behind around 8:16 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17.
“The area was dark and not lit,” GSP Sgt. Brian Jones wrote in an email. “The Dodge and bicycle struck each other in the roadway.”
Jones said Paul was not wearing a helmet and was airlifted to Navicent Atrium Health Hospital in Macon.
“This crash is still under investigation due to receiving video footage from a nearby business, and we are still waiting for an update on the injury status of the bicycle driver,” Jones wrote.
