FRIDAY NIGHT SCOREBOARD: September 26, 2025

A glance at the Heart of Georgia’s week 7 football results, and your full area-wide scoreboard.

Ty Cummings made history with a remarkable night on one side of Laurens county, and the East Laurens Falcons pulled an upset to make it a memorable one on the other, to turn week 7 of the 2025 season into one that fans in the Heart of Georgia won’t soon forget. Bleckley County, Dodge County, Wheeler County, Brentwood and Johnson County all took care of business, recent win streaks for Trinity and Dublin both came to an end with tough losses in Macon and Wilkinson County finally secured its first win in the remainder of the area’s action.

Ty Cummings entered the night chasing a couple of school rushing records held by Darius Bradford, whom he trailed by a modest 85 yards and a touchdown. By the end of it, those were small potatoes in comparison to the state single-game rushing marks he would challenge in the performance of a lifetime. The senior rushed for eight touchdowns to tie him (six ways with Dalton’s Jahmyr Gibbs, Miller County’s Don Calloway, Pebblebrook’s Thomas Flowers, Hillgrove’s Sonney Harris and North Oconee’s Kawon Bryant) for second-most in a game. His unofficial yardage total of 615, if it withstands the tale of the tape, would surpass the state’s all-time high of 605 run for by Coffee’s Tyrese Woodgett in last year’s state playoffs. The Raiders’ record book took a beating all the way around, with their 70 points (and 125 by the teams combined) both shattering previous highs, while Cummings also topped a number of other school and personal bests. Baldwin, when all was said and done, likely made some history of one form or another on its end of the matchup as well, with quarterback Kamden Patterson throwing for five touchdowns (three to Jaylen King) to help break half a hundred and stay no more than three touchdowns back of West Laurens at any point in the night. But if Cummings’ largely-untouched runs of 59, 91, 75, 53, 59, 59, 86 and 78 anytime the Braves began to get close weren’t enough to put the game away, it was three turnovers on downs and takeaways via first-half fumble (forced by Ethan Cason-Guyton and recovered by Jaden Stanley) and Jayce Blash’s interception late that made the difference for an increasingly winded Raider defense. Shannon Adkins and Cason Pollock rushed for the only non-Cummings touchdowns late in the second and fourth quarters.

East Laurens 28, ACE Charter 14

The Falcons maintained an early lead to get their second region win on homecoming. ACE jumped on the board first, but the Falcons tied the game 7-7 with 2:52 left on a 75-yard touchdown pass from Jason Giles to Major Floyd. Both teams stalled in quarter 2 until East Laurens pulled ahead 20-7 at the half. The Falcons used some big defensive plays to set up a fourth unanswered score midway through the fourth quarter, as King ran for a 21-yard touchdown with 7:16 left to play, and Giles’ pass to J.J. Wright made it a 28-7 lead. The Gryphons scored one more time, but a costly fumble cost them a chance to further chip away as the Falcons hung on.

Central Fellowship 27, Trinity 14

The Lancers outgained Trinity, which was down an injured Wade Register for the entire second half, 392 rushing yards to 196 as the Crusaders’ five-game win streak came to an end in Macon. Register carried eight times for 58 yards and an early touchdown, but left the game with an ankle injury midway through. Trinity, led offensively by the 128 rushing yards and 39 passing of Jakob Sahli, could only come up with one more score on his 24-yard touchdown pass to Tripp Mascaro. The 100-yard rushing efforts of Carter Welch and Dayne Blanks (filling in for injured top rusher Judson Walls) produced three of CFCA’s four touchdowns for the final advantage.

Johnson Co. 37, Hancock Central 8

The Trojans rushed for 185 of their 222 total yards, with Cory King and Nathan Turberville visiting the end zone at least once each, on their way to a sixth win to remain undefeated. Jeremiah Scott, who did so twice, also had a pick-six that was one in a trifecta of non-offensive touchdowns. JoCo also blocked a punt and Tayshawn Norris returned a kickoff for additional scores in the string of six before Hancock got on the board in the fourth. The Bulldogs, however, were held to 87 total yards, just two first downs and were conversion-less on 10 third downs.

Thursday: Northeast Macon 20, Dublin 0

The Irish couldn’t break through Northeast’s stingy defense in plus territory, despite some sporadic progress moving the football, while Jordan Wiggins threw for all three of the Raiders’ touchdowns, and over 200 yards in a second-straight game.
