GBI Arrests and Charges Three With Kidnapping and Aggravated Assault

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested Dean Tanner, 30, of Tarrytown, Lauren Bailey, 43, of Vidalia and Jeff Sconyers, 51, of Vidalia on Thursday, May 29, and charged all three with kidnapping and aggravated assault.

According to a press release, the GBI were contacted by the Treutlen County Sheriff’s Department on Wednesday, May 28, to assist with the kidnapping and aggravated assault investigation. According to the victim, Tanner, Bailey and Sconyers physically assaulted him at a home in Soperton before transporting him to a home in Vidalia. 

While at the home, the group assaulted the victim again, causing the victim to lose consciousness, and then searched the home for items the group suspected were stolen from Bailey’s warehouse. Afterward, the group transported the victim to a secluded area in the woods in Ailey where he was sexually assaulted, the release detailed.

Tanner, Bailey and Sconyers were arrested in Montgomery County on May 29 and booked into Treutlen County Jail. All three were charged with kidnapping and aggravated assault for crimes committed in Soperton, and the GBI expects additional charges for crimes committed in Ailey and Vidalia.

According to the GBI, the investigation into the crime is still ongoing, and will be turned over to the Dublin Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office, the Middle Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office and the Oconee District Attorney’s Office for prosecution once complete.
