GOLF: West Laurens boys remain on unbeaten match streak vs. Stratford, Mount de Sales

The Raider boys continued their strong play as they hosted, and defeated, Stratford and Mount de Sales Monday.

The West Laurens Raider boys continued their strong play as they hosted Stratford Academy and Mount de Sales Monday. 

The Raiders shot an even-par 144 to Stratford’s 150 and MDS’ 176. The Raiders were led by Sophomore Brody Graham’s 2-under 34. Braceton Beasely (36), Will Tribble (36) and Lane Neal (37) also posted qualifying scores for the team.

The Raiders are currently ranked No. 1 in AAA according to Iwanamaker, the GHSA’s golf scoring matrix. 

Beasley, a freshman, leads the young, talented team with a 9-hole average of 36. Five other starters are averaging under 40, including fellow freshmen Tribble and Neal, sophomores Graham and Wade Martin, and junior Jake Harden.

The Raiders currently are undefeated in 9-hole matches and have finished fifth in the Stratford Invitational and seventh in the West Georgia Classic.

The Raider girls are also having a really good year.  The team is led by senior Morgan Barfield’s 45-stroke average.  

Barfield is committed to play college golf at GMC next year.  Bailey Jean Logan, Valley Stewart, Taylor Levin, Aubrie Paul and Peyton Dean round out the ladies team.
