Cascade Manufacturing Co. has announced plans to begin the construction of a new manufacturing facility in East Dublin.

The new business, with a 26,000-square-foot plant on six acres, will be used as a satellite manufacturing facility of cold-formed steel trusses serving the construction industry.

“We’re glad they chose to locate and start a satellite business in the city of East Dublin,” said East Dublin Mayor George Garnto. “We think they’ll be a great asset to our business community.”

The facility will be built next to Lear West off Ga. 29. Garnto thanked Lear West for recruiting Cascade.

“They actually got them to make the decision to come here,” Garnto said.

Lear West Inc., a general contractor in East Dublin, was picked to handle the construction of the new facility. Construction just began. They are expecting this to be completed by the early second quarter of next year.

CFS trusses are used in place of wood trusses where projects require or prefer noncombustible materials. This facility will be an expansion of its other two CFS production facilities in Cascade, Iowa and Tyler, Texas, and will be used to serve customers and projects throughout the southeastern part of the country and the Atlantic Coast.

CFS trusses have been used in projects like multifamily, senior living, college/university dorms and other campus buildings, municipal projects like fire and police stations, water treatment facilities, general retail and commercial buildings and in military installations.

Cascade anticipates to bring approximately 10 quality manufacturing jobs to the area with hopes of expanding to 15 to 20 jobs within the first five years.

“That would be great,” the mayor said. “This is good news for East Dublin. (Cascade) is out of Iowa. It’s nice to have them come in.”

Cascade Manufacturing Co., with its parents company Cascade Lumber Co., is a third-generation owned family business founded in 1953. Headquartered in Cascade, Iowa, it employs approximately 200 people nationwide in its operations as a retail lumber yard, wood truss manufacturer with production facilities in Cascade and Pleasantville, Iowa, and has evolved as the nation’s largest manufacturer of cold-formed steel (CFS) trusses with its facilities in Iowa and Texas.
