Breaking: Whitaker murder trial declared a mistrial after 11-1 jury deadlock

Defendant was accused of killing his wife in June 2021.

After almost 12 hours deliberations, a Laurens County Judge declared a mistrial in the Ben Whitaker murder trial after the jury communicated that it was at a 11-1 deadlock. 

Whitaker was on trial for the shooting death of his wife, Tiffani, in June 2021 at their home on Penn Avenue.

According to Superior Court Chief Judge Jon Helton, the earliest a re-trial could be held is January.
