New travel center coming to East Dublin

Store will be 11th operated by Georgia-based GasPro.

Work is underway on a GasPro Travel Center at Soperton Avenue and Oakwood Drive in East Dublin/RODNEY MANLEY

Georgia-based GasPro has started construction in East Dublin for its newest travel center.

Gas Pro operates 10 travel centers, including ones in Statesboro and Augusta and two in South Carolina. The East Dublin location will be at the corner of Soperton Avenue and Oakwood Drive.

“That will help the economy over here,” said East Dublin Mayor George Gornto. “We have a lot of transfer trucks in East Dublin. This will help them.”

In addition to typical convenience store items, Gas Pro offers hot food including breakfast items and a lunch-dinner menu with wings, tenders and fried chicken, fish and pork chops. The travel centers cater to truckers with accessories, ample parking, shower facilities and rest areas.

The East Dublin center will sit on five acres. The opening date could depend on pending road work.
