Dublin mayor excited about amenities coming to Springdale Park
Dublin mayor excited about renovations coming to Springdale Park.

Dublin Mayor Joshua Kight smiled when asked about the upcoming work scheduled for Springdale Park.
In the next couple of months, phase 1 for the park, located off of Claxton Dairy Road, will begin with work done by Dublin Construction Company.
The city plans to hold a ground breaking for this work in November or December. After this happens, Springdale Park will be closed for phase I to begin.
“The work they’ll be doing in phase 1 is all of the dirt moving, road work and trail building,” Kight said. “They’ll get the parking areas, roads and all of the underground infrastructure placed in there and the electricity.”
This will set the foundation for all of the amenities that will be coming during phase 2, with work done by Thomas and Hutton Engineering Company.
That phase will include the dog park, playground, the natural playground, the ninja course, pickleball courts, the dock and renovation of the baseball, softball and football fields.
“Those fields will be brought up to modern specs,” Kight said.
The Springdale Park project will provide amenities that are not possible at the other parks because it is bigger and has a lot of space to work with.
“We have a fishing pond and a dock that will go out into the fishing pond,” Kight said. “We’ll have a walking trail that will go all the way around the park and a nature trail that goes through the wooded area at the back of the park. That will include a bicycle track so you can walk or ride a bike there and it will connect to the pond and major stuff up front.”
That is where a large open field which can be used for anything. Around this central-field will be an overlook pavilion, pickleball courts and a natural playground.
“Most playgrounds, like we have in our other parks, are manufactured playgrounds,” Kight said. “This one will have natural objects like wood, pieces of lumber, rope and mounds of dirt. It’s basically a playground that is incorporated into the natural beauty.”
There is also going to be a Ninja course and a large dog park.
“What we are trying to do is offer some things you will not see in the other parks,” Kight said. “We will have room to do it here. Springdale is going to be a tremendous asset for the community. It’s going to be a crown jewel of our park system.”
