Lickity Split shapes up to be the new “it” restaurant in downtown Cochran
Lickity Split owner Sonja Oswald says the restaurant will serve Greek food, candy and live entertainment when they reopen later this month.

Lickity Split has been a staple in the community since they opened their doors on Beech Street back in November. Now, less than one year later, they’re making the jump from Beech Street to North Second Street, adding food items to the menu and introducing a new candy shop next door.
According to owner Sonja Oswald, Lickity Split is now a two-shop business. Located at 122 N Second Street, the shop on the left will be the standard ice cream shop that Cochranites are already used to, with some added changes. The shop on the right, however, will be the new candy shop, where customers can combine their choice of candy to make a “candy salad.”
The reason for the move, Oswald told the TJP, was that the original location on Beech Street was a rental. Oswald and her husband James purchased the new location on North Second Street back in February and began the process of renovating shortly after.
One of the biggest changes made at the new location is that Lickity Split, the ice cream shop, will now be a full service restaurant, serving Greek food and an expanded selection of desserts.
Lickity Split will now serve gyros, gyro bowls, hummus, pita bread and tabouli as a part of their lunch menu. Gyros and gyro bowls will each cost $11.99.
New dessert menu items include chaco-tacos and ice cream pies.

They also plan to have updated hours to hit the lunch rush, but according to Oswald, those hours aren’t yet set in stone.
Oswald told the TJP that with the new menu options, they hope to make the shop feel more like a hangout spot for homegrown Cochran families and visiting college students alike.
“This town needs something. We have all of these MGA students, and they don’t have anything to walk to,” Oswald said. “So we’re going to create that.”
One of the ways they’re doing this is by adding a jumbo 75 inch TV to the new shop wall, so that customers will stick around to watch Saturday night football.
Oswald said that they also plan to obtain a liquor license in the upcoming months. With alcohol added to their menu, she said she hopes every member of the family will have something they like.
She specifically identified “margaritas for mom,” “craft beers for dad,” and ice cream cones for the kids.
They reportedly plan to bring in karaoke, stand up comedy, and expanded event nights later on. They also plan to open up the back entrance of the shop for customers so they can enter through Bank State Lane.
With all of the new updates, Oswald says she hopes to give the people of Cochran “a place to come and do things,” and even “meet new friends.”
Also located at 122 N Second Street, the Oswalds are finishing up construction on their new candy shop, Lickity Split Too.

The shop will be full service, with candy jars filled with different kinds of sweet treats, including specially-imported Swedish candy and select sugar free options.
Customers will be able to direct the employee behind the counter what candy they want and pick a bag for it to go in.

According to Oswald, they haven’t decided on prices just yet, but she did say most candy will be a set price per pound. Swedish candy will have its own prices.
Besides the candy, Lickity Split Too will also sell novelty items like pens, tumblers, barrettes, environmentally-friendly ice cream cups (that can be used next door) and more.

They will also use the building to ship candy packages they sell through the business’s TikTok Shop.
The original Lickity Split closed their doors at the Beech Street location on the 31st. According to Oswald, the new restaurant should be opening up shortly, but they haven’t picked a date just yet.
The candy shop will open for the first time on Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
“I hope they find [the new restaurant] warm and welcoming, and that they will still come in and make memories,” Oswald said. “That’s what we’re all about.”
Oswald recommends people keep up with their business by following their pages on TikTok, Facebook and Instagram.
