Million Pines Farmers Market Hosts Back to School Field Day Event

The Million Pines Farmers Market held a back to school field day event on Saturday, July 26, in the Jean Gillis Memorial Park in Soperton.

During the event, children played several games, including a water bucket relay, a 50 yard dash, an egg relay, a sack race and tug-of-war. Winners of the games were treated to snow cones from vendor Diasha Mitchell.

The children could also play on the two water slides and the bounce house, all provided by Viking Inflatables.

Million Pines Farmers Market Director Jennifer Baker hopes the children who attended knew they could “just enjoy life and have fun.” Adults also participated in the games, specifically tug-of-war.

Music was also played throughout the event, eventually leading to a dance performance by the Rhythm Riders. T.K. McLendon Jr. of the Tennessee Titans also attended the event, as he is a Soperton native.

The event also saw a number of food and apparel vendors attend. According to Director Baker, the organization committee focused on attracting vendors who had not attended the regular farmers market.

Organizers ended the event with a premiere of “Heartbreak City,” a short film by local filmmakers Immersive Studios.
