PICKLEBALL: Eight DPA doubles teams bring home medals from St. Simons event

All 17 Dublin Pickleball Association members entered finished in the top four of their category, and eight teams came away with medals, during the 2025 SSI Pickle Paddle Battle last weekend.

Seventeen members of the Dublin Pickleball Association traveled to St. Simons Island last weekend to play in the fourth annual SSI Pickle Paddle Battle.  

Southern Pickleball Association ran the event beneath the Spanish Moss-covered Live Oaks in Mallery Park April 12-13 as 207 Players competed for a spot on the podium in their skill bracket and age group.  

During the round robin, all 17 DPA members finished within the top four of their skill/age group, qualifying each to play in the medal round brackets. 

The following teams placed: 

Gold

Paula Baker and Rose Cannon, both of Dublin – Women’s Doubles Skill 3.0/Age 59-62 

Teresa Johnson (Dudley) and Maria Woodard (Dexter) – Women’s Doubles 2.5/50+

Lindsay Shuman (Dublin) and Reece Woodard (Brunswick) – Mixed Doubles 3.0/5-49

Silver

Amy Gay (Dublin) and Carew Rowell (St Simons Island) – Mixed Doubles 4.0/40+

Dawn Howerton and Eva Martin, both of East Dublin – Women’s Doubles 4.0/50+

Sandy Souza and Lindsay Shuman, both of Dublin – Women’s Doubles 3.0/5-50

Bronze

Chap Cranford (Dublin) and Reece Woodard (Brunswick) – Men’s Doubles, 3.5/5-49

Dianne Harrison (Dublin) and Jada Stroud (Macon) – Women’s Doubles 3.5+/5-49
