At noon last Friday, the complete list of those running for Dublin City Council and Dublin City School Board was official.

Those running for Dublin City Council are incumbents Tess Godfrey, Sara Kolbie and Richard Mascaro and challengers Rae S. Bloodworth, Brandon Chain, John C. Hall Jr., Ben Lanier and Mitchell Whittington. For Dublin City School Board, incumbents John A. Bell III (Super District 1), Kenny Walters (Super District 2) and Regina McRae (at-large) qualified along with challenger Jeff Davis.

In the months ahead, all of these candidates will be promoting themselves, trying to persuade the city voters to cast a ballot for them on Nov. 4.

Now it is time for those who are able to vote in this election to do their homework. That consists of getting to know all of these candidates so that one can make an informed decision when it comes to who they would like to vote in to represent them for the next four years.

The Courier Herald will submit questions to these candidates and allow them to purchase advertisements for their campaigns. They will have the chance to speak and maybe even debate and several events in the upcoming months.

When it comes to who to vote for, well, that will be up to you to learn about each of these candidates, talk with them and make an informed decision when the city election is held on Nov. 4. Do not forget, early voting starts on Tuesday, Oct. 14  and will go for three weeks from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the week. This will include two Saturday’s when people will be able to go to the Laurens County Board of Elections and Registration office, 117 E. Jackson St., Suite A, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

For those living in the county, we will not have a chance to decide the city election, but we all will have a chance to voice our thoughts on two Georgia Public Service Commission seats as well as vote for an extension on the SPLOST. So study up and make a decision.
