Trinity’s soccer teams rattled off two more big wins, and came up a bit short against a pair of quality non-region foes, as they began a final homestand of the regular season Tuesday and Thursday.

The Crusaders swept Vidalia Heritage to improve their region records Tuesday night, but fell in two competitive matches with FPD on Thursday, to send them into their last week of the schedule – which includes just one game more apiece against Central Fellowship Monday night.

Addie Kendrick racked up four goals, and Chloe Rozier added three, for the bulk of the scoring in the girls’ 8-1 victory over VHA. Abby Gillis added a solo goal, with Sarah Grace Todd registering the only mark on an otherwise clean Trinity defensive sheet.

MARK UP!: Brinley Vinson (9, above) and Maddy George (3, below) play some D for the Lady Crusaders late in Thursday’s second half/CLAY REYNOLDS

A late-first half landslide of goals for FPD got the Lady C’s (12-3, 10-1 region) a little too far down, by a count of 3-0, at halftime. Maddy George’s goal with about 25 minutes left in the match, mirrored by one more by the Vikings in the remaining time, made for a 4-1 final score.

The Trinity boys (9-4-1, 8-1 region) also hammered Heritage to close out Tuesday’s sweep, scoring five times in the first half and four in the second. The Crusaders spread the love offensively. Jagger George was its only scorer with two goals. Everybody else – Josh Mosley, Hudson Shirley, Matthew Kitchen, Zane Milburn, Jace Bellflower, Brooks Barrs and Parker Smith – got in on the action with one apiece.

Marshall Polhill, Dash Preston and Hein Schaaf, in addition to several of the above, had assists.

BEATING HIM TO THE KICK: Jagger George (1) was only a quarter of a step ahead of FPD defender Luke Judah (23) on this race to the ball, but got off a shot that evened the match for Trinity late in the first half/CLAY REYNOLDS

A second-half FPD goal was the slight difference in a nip-and-tuck match, marked by some physical defense, that went for the Vikings 2-1 Thursday night.

They struck first via Dominic Economopolous midway through the first half, before George nailed a gorgeous shot into the top right corner above a tough-to-threaten FPD keeper Breck Griffin, to even it at 1s going to halftime.
