After falling to Thomas Jefferson in a walk-off loss earlier in the week, Trinity was able to turn the tables on the Jaguars at home with a 4-2 win in a rematch Friday afternoon.

The Crusaders got on the board first in the bottom of the second inning as they loaded the bases on a pair of walks to Brayden Underwood and Blake Sims, sandwiched around a single by Andrew Helton. Jakob Sahli would deliver a two-out RBI single to make the score 1-0.

The Jaguars took the lead back in the top of the fourth on a walk, an RBI double and a a sac fly to go up 2-1.

That score would hold until the bottom of the sixth. Jake Johnson led off the frame with a walk and advanced on a sac bunt. Sahli would then drive him home with another RBI single to tie the score at 2-2.

Two batters later, Kolbi Grooms singled home a run to put the Crusaders up 3-2. Tayt Evans would come through with another RBI single later in the frame to put the Crusaders up 4-2 and that would be the final.

Sahli led the offense by going 3-for-3 at the plate. Grooms, Helton, Tayt Evans and Carter Lee all hit safely as well.

Asher Evans got the win on the mound with a complete-game effort. He allowed five hits and two runs, while walking just one and striking out seven.

Trinity finished the regular season at 15-9 overall, and was set to host Southland Academy in the GIAA state quarterfinals. The series began with a 1 p.m. doubleheader Thursday, and was set to conclude Friday with an “if necessary” game, also slated to start at 1.
