An inmate briefly escaped custody while the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office was in the process of transporting him back to the jail Thursday around noon.

Chief Deputy Stan Wright said the man will face additional charges from briefly getting away from officials at the Laurens County Courthouse.

“He was found close to the courthouse and less than five minutes after he got away,” Wright said. “Dublin Police helped us on this. They were the first ones to get their hands on him and there was a deputy there momentarily.”
