Chain wins re-election to Laurens County Commission
Hatchett wins big in state House primary.

One local incumbent is returning to her seat, while another is moving on to face a challenger in the General Election in November.
Incumbent Brenda Chain defeated challenger Carolyn McCune in Tuesday’s Democratic primary to win a third term on the Laurens County Board of Commissioners.
Chain faces no Republican opposition in November. On Tuesday, she garnered 490 votes – or 55 percent – to McCune’s 403.
State Representative Matt Hatchett easily held off challenger Cayce Cook, picking up 90 percent of the vote in both Laurens and Johnson counties.
In Laurens, Hatchett finished with 4969 votes to Cook’s 497. Hatchett will face Democrat Joe Powers, who ran unopposedTuesday, in November.
In a contested Dudley City Council at-large race, Jenny Taylor defeated Jay Powell, with 104 votes to Powell’s 48.
