1 killed in three-vehicle wreck on 441 South in Laurens County

A teenage passenger died Sunday night after she was thrown from a truck that ran a stop sign and struck two vehicles, the Georgia State Patrol said.

Ella Grace Jenkins, 18, of Gray, was transported to Fairview Park Hospital and pronounced dead by an emergency room doctor at 9:02 p.m. Sunday, said Laurens County Deputy Coroner Nathan Stanley. 

“It’s a sad situation,” he said.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, troopers from Post 20 responded to the crash that happened at the intersection of U.S. 441 South and Springhaven Road around 8:29 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27. 

The investigation revealed that a 2020 Chevrolet Colorado, driven by Kuper Knowles, 18, of Macon was traveling east on Springhaven Road and entered U.S. 441. The Colorado hit the left side of a flatbed trailer being pulled by a 1995 Peterbilt 379, driven by Chandler Clay Stuckey of Rhine, that was heading north on 441. The impact caused the Colorado to rotate as it began traveling north in the southbound lane.

The Colorado then struck the front of a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro, driven by Edie Evette Daniel of Rentz, that was heading south on 441.
