Something scary this ways comes‭ …‬

As one of the original American colonies and one of the oldest states, Georgia has a lot of history. Peppered across the good and the bad that has occurred there are plenty of the spooky events and paranormal activity. From Atlanta to Savannah there are plenty of alleged haunted houses and locations of terrifying tales if you are looking for something to make your hair stand on end and send chills down your spine. 

Central Georgia is home to several well known ghosts and spirits, including Sylvia, who haunts Eatonton’s Panola Hall. Since 1891, Sylvia, believed the be the daughter of the mansion’s first owners, has been seen or heard roaming the halls. No one knows exactly what happened to the young lady, but she never left. With its rich Civil War history and infamous Central State Hospital, Milledgeville is supposedly rife with souls left behind with unfinished business. Surely a few haints and goblins call Laurens County home and today may be your best chance to find them. 

If you’re not a believer in the supernatural but enjoy a good scare anyway, head out to Montrose for one of the most popular haunted attractions in the state. According to the organization’s website, this is the final year of the experience, ending a 16-year run. Today is the last chance (if tickets are available) to visit the iconic attraction for heart-pounding jump scares and over worldly thrills.

If you don’t find haunted houses or ghost stories terrifying or if Halloween isn’t your thing, just remember the Dublin City Board of Education just handed down a 25 percent property tax increase; the Laurens County Board of Commissioners is trying to loan the recreation authority $5 million for an indoor sports facility most residents will not benefit from; and the presidential election is next week. 

If that doesn’t scare you, nothing will.
