The Montgomery County Board of Education announces its intention to opt out of the statewide homestead exemption. Congressman Rick W. Brewton-Parker College is awarded $40,000 from the Meadows New Foundation to provide scholarships for nursing students enrolled in the college’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. A Treutlen County man is deceased following a wreck on I-16 West near Macon. Wheeler County Clerk of Superior Court Carol Bragg is sworn into her fifth term in office. Tri-County Family Connections donates presents to almost 300 children across Montogmery, Treutlen and Toombs counties through Marine Toys for Tots. Wheeler County students take home several awards at a recent 4-H speaking competition, and the middle school program selects new officers for the upcoming school year.
