Arrest warrants issued in Bleckley County following hit-and-run

A Cochran man has been charged with multiple crimes following a hit-and-run on July 19. 

According to officials, deputies with the Bleckley County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported hit-and-run collision involving a limousine at the intersection of Ga. 87 and Ga. 257 around 10 p.m. Sunday night.

After conducting an investigation, the sheriff’s office identified Shawn Joseph Biron of Cochran as the missing suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest.

On July 24, Biron, 56, was charged with Hit and Run, Failure to Render Aid and Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign.

Officials say that while attempting to serve the warrants, the sheriff’s office learned that Biron was receiving treatment at a medical facility and could not be placed under arrest. 

Biron is expected to be taken into custody following his release from the treatment center.

The victims were reportedly a mother and her three young children. The mother, Rachel Taylor, has since spoken about the situation on social media.

“You almost killed my 3 boys and I, in the hit and run,” Taylor wrote. “You cannot hide forever.”

The sheriff’s office reminds the public that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
