Laurens County Deputy Coroner Nathan Stanley said Angela Cain was pronounced dead around 8:43 p.m. on Ben Hall Lake Drive. She died from blunt force trauma and was transported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab in Atlanta for an autopsy Saturday.
“That’s due to the circumstances and charges that will be pending,” Stanley said. “It’s a sad situation.”
According to a GSP motor vehicle crash report, Christopher Malcolm Brown, 45, of East Dublin, was driving a blue 2025 Toyota Camry north on Ben Hall Lake Drive, negotiating a left curve. The vehicle failed to maintain its lane and entered the east shoulder with its passenger side and struck Cain, who was walking along the shoulder of the road.
After hitting the pedestrian, the Toyota failed to stop at the scene. Cain was found on the east shoulder near a private driveway on Ben Hall Lake Drive.
Brown has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to drive within single lane, homicide by vehicle – leaving the scene, homicide by vehicle in first degree, tampering with evidence and too fast for conditions.
