Halloween festivities: Everything you can do in the tri-county area this holiday weekend

Halloween is this Saturday, and boils and ghouls of the tri-county scare-ea are fear-ing up to skele-brate this spook-tacular holiday.

Here’s everything you can do in Twiggs, Bleckley and Wilkinson Counties this Halloween shriek-end.

Trunk-or-treat at Cochran Police Department

This Saturday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Cochran Police Department will host their annual Halloween trunk-or-treating event in the parking lot behind the police department and city auditorium.

Organizations from across the county will set up booths throughout the parking lot and hand out candy to passing trunk-or-treaters.

Trick-or-treating somewhere else? Police will also be on standby to check your kids’ candy.

Trunk-or-treat at Twiggs County Courthouse

The Twiggs County Courthouse in Jeffersonville, located at 425 North Railroad Street, will also be the site of a trunk-or-treat this weekend. On Saturday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., residents are invited to fill the town square with “decorated trunks, big smiles, and plenty of candy,” per the flyer.

Jeffersonville city officials say the best decorated trunk will win a Boo Basket filled with festive goodies.

Vendors are welcome.

McIntyre and Irwinton Joint Fall Festival and Trunk-or-treat

The cities of McIntyre and Irwinton are joining forces to celebrate Halloween this weekend with a joint fall festival and trunk-or-treating event at McIntyre City Hall.

Officials advertise there will be craft and food vendors, face painting, candy, decorated vehicles, engraving services and a photo booth.

The fall festival will begin at 10 a.m. and run until 7 p.m., with trunk-or-treating set to start at 5 p.m.

“Come out for a day of fun, food, community, and fall excitement!” read a flyer.

According to officials, first aid and health information will also be available on site including blood pressure and blood sugar checks. For more information, officials say to contact McIntyre City Hall at (478) 946-2037 or the City of Irwinton at (478) 946-7144.

Jail Creek Farms Winery

Jail Creek Farms is holding their sixth annual Halloween party and costume contest Saturday evening. From 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., the winery will have a food truck and live music from the local band Reckless Soul.

According to the owners, the winner of best costume will receive a $100 prize. To avoid favoritism, the band will select the winner.

This year’s theme is extraterrestrial.

Cochran-Bleckley County 911 Trick-a-treating

The Cochran-Bleckley County 911 Center is inviting parents to bring their kids down to the center, located at 153 North Eighth Street, for some “trick-a-treating” on Saturday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
