South Dakota driver runs stop sign, overturns vehicle in Laurens County
Three people were transported to the local hospital after a man from South Dakota ran a stop sign Thursday evening.
Three people were taken to the hospital after a vehicle failed to stop at the stop sign and collided with a SUV Thursday afternoon.
According to a Georgia State Patrol incident report, Stephen Phillip McGee of Box Elder, S.D., was driving a gray 2026 Jeep Wrangler west on Old Hawkinsville Road while a gray 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander, driven by Katrina Mitchell McMiller of Dublin, was heading south on Old Macon Road.
The Jeep failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection, causing the Toyota to impact the other vehicle on the passenger side around 5:34 p.m. Thursday, July 30. After impact, the Jeep rotated clockwise and traveled approximately 36 feet, leaving the road and knocking down a stop sign.
The Jeep continued for another 41 feet before overturning and coming to an uncontrolled final stop on its roof facing north.
After hitting the Jeep, the Toyota went 29 feet before coming to an uncontrolled stop on Old Macon Road facing east.
McGee, McMiller and a passenger in the Toyota were transported by Laurens County EMS to Fairview Park Hospital.
