TWIGGS COUNTY: Routine traffic stop yields 100 grams of marijuana
A man was arrested in Twiggs County last week after deputies discovered 100 grams of marijuana during a routine traffic stop.

A routine traffic stop in Twiggs County on Thursday led to a drug bust yielding 100 grams of marijuana.
Twiggs County sheriff’s deputies say they arrested driver Oscar Freeman after he was initially pulled over for speeding.
Officials report that Freeman was driving on GA Hwy 129 around 7:43 a.m. when he was clocked at driving 74 miles per hour in a posted 55 miles per hour zone.
A deputy with the Twiggs County sheriff’s office there conducting what TCSO refers to as High Visibility Enforcement, said he clocked Freeman as traveling 19 miles over the speed limit and subsequently initiated a traffic stop.
During the stop, the deputy reported that they smelled “a strong odor of raw marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.”
The deputy then issued a search of Freeman’s vehicle, leading to the discovery of a large clear bag containing 100 grams of marijuana.

Freeman was arrested without further incident and transported to the Twiggs County Law Enforcement Center. He was charged with possession of a schedule I controlled substance, speeding in excess of maximum limits and a seat belt violation.
An official with the Twiggs County Sheriff’s Office posted about the situation on the department’s Facebook page, warning other drivers against “rid[ing] dirty” while they’re in Twiggs County.
“Slow down. Don’t ride dirty. And definitely don’t bring drugs into Twiggs County,” they wrote.
